It seems every time I go fishing with Uncle Joe, the fish get bigger and bigger. I tell the story my way (my version of the truth) and Uncle Joe tells the story his way (his version of the truth). How the fish was so big it almost dragged him in the water. How he could barely lift the fish up because it was crazy big. Every time he tells the story – that fish gets bigger and bigger. People would often ask me if Uncle Joe was telling the truth.
We have all experienced the family or business story – with each retelling, it becomes an exaggerated version of the original. But how can we reconcile two completely different versions of the “truth”?
